Night of the Barricades

On the night of 10 May the students built barricades across the Latin Quarter, and the radio broadcast the night live.

If the Revolution won

The barricades still stood at dawn, and the country had heard everything.

Otherwise

The police cleared the streets before dawn, and the morning papers counted the cars burned.

If the Law chose “Cut the radio relays”

The radio relays were cut, which everyone noticed.

If the Revolution chose “Feed the reporters”

The reporters had their story, and the students had the country.

Otherwise

The voices on the radio stayed with everyone who had listened.
