The Law

Keep the Strike meter under 50% at the end, and the essential services running: no occupation at the power station (Bercy) or the rail yards (La Villette). Wage offers ease the strike; once the union's loyalty is down to 45, a negotiator can get a works to vote to go back.

Ten Million

From 13 May the strike spread from works to works until some ten million people had stopped.

If the Revolution won

The country stood still, and the government had to bargain.

Otherwise

The lights stayed on and the trains ran, enough to wait for the end.

If the Revolution chose “Force the gate”

The students forced the gate of the car works, and the union never forgave them.

Otherwise

The students sang outside the gates of the car works, and the workers waved from the roof.
