This level's booklet page
I. Fourteenth of July
On the morning of the fourteenth, the crowd took muskets from the Invalides and went to look for powder in the old fortress at the end of the faubourg.
If the Revolution won
By evening the governor's head was on a pike and the fortress belonged to Paris. The king wrote in his diary: nothing.
Otherwise
The walls held. The crowd went home at nightfall, carrying its dead, and the Bastille stood at the end of the faubourg like an insult.
If the Revolution chose “Send a key abroad”
One key went across the ocean to a general who had fought for another revolution. It hangs there still.
If the Revolution chose “Hang it in the club”
The key hung on the wall of the club, and every new member was made to touch it.
If the Law chose “Demolish the fortress”
The fortress was sold to a contractor who cut its stones into little Bastilles and sold them as souvenirs.
Otherwise
The Bastille stayed a prison. Its cells were not empty for long.
