King Charles-Henri
Charles-Henri spent the long years of the Revolution and the Empire in exile, hunting in borrowed forests and waiting. When the throne came back to his family he took it as a debt paid, not a gift, and set about restoring everything the Revolution had swept away, beginning with the precedence of his court.
He is affable in private and immovable in public. He believes concessions caused his family's fall and will not make any. In the summer of 1830 his ministers signed ordinances that muzzled the press and shrank the electorate, and the printers of Paris, put out of work overnight, were the first into the street.
