Clara Fontaine, student coordinator
Clara Fontaine is a history student at the Sorbonne who grew up in a lycée in the eastern suburbs where half her classmates have no job and no prospect of one. She came to politics through a debating club and a strike of school canteen workers, and she discovered she was good at chairing a meeting of three hundred people without a microphone.
In early 2006 the government passed a law allowing employers to dismiss young people in their first job without a reason. Clara was elected to the national coordination of the students. She is precise, patient and impossible to rush, and she believes a movement wins when it is bigger on its last day than on its first.
