Jacqueline, a student
Jacqueline is in her first year at the Sorbonne, a railwayman's daughter from Montrouge who won a scholarship and the right to argue with her professors. In the autumn of 1940 the occupier closed some lecture halls, arrested a famous professor and banned the anniversary of the old armistice.
Jacqueline and her friends wrote the date on the blackboards and passed the word from lycée to lycée: on the eleventh of November, everyone to the Arch, with flowers. She is eighteen, she has never been afraid of anything, and she has not yet understood that the people who will take her name do not need a reason.
