President Adrien Lacombe
Adrien Lacombe is an engineer who made a fortune in software and then spent ten years running a region, where he was known for closing small railway lines and opening technology campuses. He won the presidency on a promise to modernise the country as if it were a company that had fallen behind its competitors.
He is brilliant, energetic and certain that the country only needs to be explained to. He governs with a small circle of advisers and a large number of reforms, and he speaks of the people who resist them as if they had misread a slide. In the autumn of 2018 a tax on fuel set off something none of his advisers had modelled.
