Bernard Lucet, refinery union leader
Bernard Lucet has worked at an oil refinery on the lower Seine since he was eighteen, in the control room, on night shifts, in heat and noise. He became a union delegate because nobody else would, and the secretary of his union branch because everybody else asked him to.
He knows something the government sometimes forgets: if the refineries stop, the petrol stations empty within a week and the whole country notices. In 2010 the government reformed the pensions and raised the retirement age. Lucet does not want a general strike, he wants a won strike, and he is counting the stocks in every depot.
