Jacques Duroc, Party of Labour

Jacques Duroc is a metalworker from Saint-Denis who rose through the party's evening schools, its newspaper and its prisons. He spent the Grey Years in hiding in the city, moving from attic to attic, signing the clandestine paper with a different name each issue.

In 1945 his party was the biggest in France, the party of the factories and the Resistance, and he became a minister for a little while. Then the Cold War came and his ministers were sent away. He is warm with the workers, cold with his rivals and loyal to the friends in the East even when he would rather not be. His party votes as one, and it has never forgiven anyone who left it.
