Jean-Paul Saulnier
Jean-Paul Saulnier was a veterinarian who failed at it, a playwright who failed at that, and a journalist who did not. His paper, printed on a borrowed press in the Faubourg Saint-Marcel, comes out every morning with a fresh enemy of the people on its front page.
He writes with real anger about real hunger, and with the same anger about anyone who crosses him. The market women of Les Halles read him aloud, the sections quote him, and deputies who despise him read him first thing to learn what the city will think by noon.
